Items score only inside a scoring stage
The advice on this page is community opinion; the points values are game data from our event planner. A speedup used outside an event only shortens a timer. The same speedup used on the right stage also earns event points, milestone rewards and leaderboard rank, so most guides agree you should hold speedups and growth items back and spend them on the stage that scores them. Points scales differ between events, so compare items within one event, not across events. Hero Roulette only runs from day 2 of Hall of Governors, Strongest Governor or Kingdom of Power, so spins are tied to those events anyway.

Promoting troops scores more per speedup minute than training
Stage 4 scores troops by tier; T11 only scores from kingdom day 225. Base training speed; a training speed bonus raises every row by the same ratio, so the order does not change. Hall of Governors runs while most troops are below T10. Promoting beats training for every target tier from T5 to T10 in all three events.

When to spend and when to keep saving
- In Hall of Governors, a training speedup minute spent promoting T9 to T10 earns about 1,357 points on stage 4, against 1,500 as a plain speedup on stage 7. Save training speedups for the troop stage.
- In KvK prep, promoting T9 to T10 earns about 42.9 points per speedup minute on day 4, more than the 30 a minute earns on speedup days. Training new T10s earns about 23.7, less than 30. Keep a stock of lower-tier troops to promote.
- In Strongest Governor, the best troop route at base speed is promoting T9 to T10 at about 25.7 points per minute, against 30 on speedup stages. Your training speed bonus decides which is better; check it in the troop training planner.
- Start long upgrades before the event and finish them with speedups once the stage opens. Speedup minutes used before the event score nothing.
- Alliance Mobilization speedup missions pay for the highest threshold reached, not per minute: 900 minutes for 160, 1,800 minutes for 220, 3,600 minutes for 300 and 7,200 minutes for 450 at base value. Stop at a threshold.
- Spend outside events when an upgrade is blocking you now, such as a Town Center level you need for the next unlock, or when a small spend reaches a milestone.
- Activate buffs such as the Double Time Decree and pet buffs before you spend, and coordinate the timing with your alliance.
The 28-day loop tells you when each push comes
| Week | Point events | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Alliance Brawl (days 1 to 7), Armament Competition (days 1 to 2 and 5 to 6), Officer Project (days 3 to 4 and 7 to 8) | Spend only what Alliance Brawl, Armament Competition and Officer Project score, and only up to the milestones you want. Keep the bulk for weeks 2 and 4. |
| 2 | Strongest Governor (days 1 to 7) | Strongest Governor. Spend on the stages that score each item. Decide by stage 5 whether to keep pushing or carry the rest to KvK prep. |
| 3 | Alliance Mobilization (days 1 to 6), Armament Competition (days 1 to 2 and 5 to 6), Officer Project (days 3 to 4 and 7 to 8) | Rebuild the stockpile. In Alliance Mobilization, pick missions you can finish to a threshold without dipping into KvK items. |
| 4 | KvK Prep Phase (days 1 to 5) | KvK prep. Spend each item on its scoring day, then use what is left on day 5, the widest scoring day. |
Free players aim for milestones, spenders plan the whole week
Free players
Aim for daily milestones, not rank. Save for one focused push instead of spreading speedups across every event. Advanced Taming Mark days are among the cleanest milestone days. Gathering stages score evenly for everyone, so keep gatherers out before reset.
Low spenders
Pick two or three stages where your saved stock can move your rank, and take milestones only on the rest. Beyond 120 Hero Roulette spins, the Gems cost outweighs the shards.
Bigger spenders
Plan the full week before it starts. Late rank pushes depend on saved Mithril, Widgets and hero materials, so hold them rather than using them as they arrive. Points are temporary, so do not train troops you do not need just to climb a stage ranking.
Where guides disagree
- When to start saving for KvK: kingshotguide.org and the Kingshot Almanac say two to three weeks before, kingshotmastery.com says stop casual spending from about 30 days out, and kingshotguide.com says start only once your kingdom is close to KvK eligibility, keeping flexibility before then.
- Healing speedups: kingshotguide.org says save them for Swordland Showdown, the Kingshot Almanac says save them for KvK.
- How construction and research score: kingshotmastery.com says by power gained, the Kingshot Almanac says by speedup minutes. Both are right for different events: Hall of Governors stage 1 scores power, while Strongest Governor and KvK prep score speedup minutes.
- KvK day 4: one guide says training speedups also score per minute that day. Our data scores day 4 troops by tier only.
- Promoting: only the kingshotmastery.com Hall of Governors guide recommends promoting a backlog of low-tier troops. The other guides do not cover promotion; our troop data supports it.
