Training and promoting troops

Compare new training with promotion and plan batches around useful troop tiers.

Choose the army you need after the timer

New training increases troop count. Promotion improves existing lower-tier soldiers; it does not add the promoted batch to your total as extra new troops. Compare both options using the same current and target tier before committing resources or speedups.

Plan a batch

  • Keep training queues active when resources permit, while reserving enough resources for the next critical building or research.
  • After unlocking a new tier, check the lower-tier troops available for promotion before assuming every queue should create new soldiers.
  • Apply the speed bonuses you actually have. The displayed remaining timer is more useful than an unbuffed headline training time.
  • For events, read whether points come from tier, power gained or a particular completion action. Promotion is not guaranteed to score like new training.

Count recovery as part of army growth

A large troop total that you cannot heal or safely use is not automatically better than a smaller sustainable force. Include your usual losses, Infirmary capacity and resource income when deciding how aggressively to spend training speedups.
